Nice one Sarel. It will push your ROI even more. The second inverter will help allot. I’m running 2 inverters but I split them. The one is running the house that the 12k btu inverter is on and the other one is running my garage and the geyser. I placed a order this week for n Midea Extreme 18k btu inverter one with wifi to add to the inverter that runs the garage and geyser. Over this past few weeks the 12k btu inverter in the main sleeping room worked overtime with the heat wave we had in the cape town and pushed my KWH up super fast. In the morning and afternoon in run it at 19’c and then evening I moved it up to 23’c and then it will only kick in every half a hour or more.
Main goal was to check how long I will last on storage power because I got 35kwh of storage and in the day the 10kw array will sit and idle along.
Ahhhh and the second Quattro was delivered today, yay. Any pointers re parallel operation? That is apart from battery and mains cable lengths. Will need to check software versions and load the saved config to the new one.
Regards
OOooooo nice!!!
Fun times!!! I’m actually got your VRM link open on my side checking it out.
On the Parallel part, @JacoDeJongh and @plonkster will be your best help with this.
Can I phone you and just run you through the prep. Don’t connect outputs together till we spoke please.
Dankie Jaco, really appreciate. It’s gonna be a few days before I will get to sticking it up there in it’s spot yet. Was planning to just connecting DC and AC and updating firmware, then load the existing save config to be same as my 1st one. Still need the link cable, and to install some DC switches as well.
I will bypass the whole lot and run from utility, but that is only planned for when this blackout cycle stopped. Want to power all Solar down to work on it. At least it was wired to just switch changeovers and we run off utility. Also need to install a lockout contractor that too months to be delivered…

And it landed, both Victron and Samsung….
Still waiting on install items that was ordered, delivery is weeks away still…

Do you intend to disconnect from the grid permanently or will you keep the resource just in case?
Since I am connected and paying, will keep it for now. It will cost me to get disconnected, so it’s less expensive this way.

Also, effectively I am off grid. Meaning I mostly do not consume any kW from the utility grid. Since I have ESS, it should be connected, best practise or get rid of ESS really as ESS is not meant for off grid.
This is what ESS did, with the bad weather and loadshedding, my SoC was set to 55% but it was effectively 65%, so it used about 4 units for one early morning 2 days ago. I am now feeding that back to balance again.

Adding to the install, second Quattro install started. Had to move some control wires from and to the Cerbo GX to make room. Also need to add another DB as the other AC DBs are full. Needed 2 more breakers on the output of both Quattros.
Still awaiting the DB and breakers to be shipped, delays and more delays.
Then tackle the wiring as I will have to rewire the original Quattro output to balance the wire lengths and route them via the new breakers. Then do the battery manual switches and the new battery cables. Then the programming can start….

Yeah, there’s a lot of rework needed when you add another unit, even if you planned for it
And I did plan for it, still errors were made, oversights too, it was not perfect…. Will get by and have a solid system in the end.

Hi guys…
I am new to this forum… I notice discussions on Fronius with Victron… Are any of you using Studer Inverters?
I am busy preparing my system to get my grid import to zero but without sacrificing anything… stove included…
Below my Fronius and there after my 8KW Studer with the grid limited to 2A.
Below is a snapshot of now with 2 AC’s running…
Hi and welcome. Nope I have not seen any on this forum…

Studer make very good hardware, but sadly they don’t have the updated NRS097-2017 certification, so technically you cannot get a CoC with them (unless you have a CoC for the Studer installation obtained before 2017, but then you cannot change anything on that installation). What is your question?
(Perhaps you should make a new thread)
I assume (yea we all do, or is it just me…) I need to hook the generator up to both Quattro’s AC2 inputs as well, same as the AC1 input to both.

And also, the Fronius Grid tie output must be sent to both Quattro’s outputs, also the cabling should be equal lenghts from the Fronius. Same as equal lenghts cable from the output of the Quattro’s to the main breaker.
