DIY Serial battery driver for Victron GX

Were you able to find some time? I have opened a pull request with a lot of fixes. The more time passes the complicater it gets to merge new pull requests. Is there a way to send you a PM?

Hi there
Yes I did look at some, but did not finish before I had to go on my next trip. I’ll try and squeeze in some time to finish but won’t be able to test it myself until I get back on 2 May.
I don’t seem to see any way to send DM in the GitHub Discussions. The best way would be to send DM here at EnergyTalk.
PS. Thanks for heping out with the questions and discussions. I appreciate the help and am sure the community also.

Unfortunately I found nowhere a possibility to send you a DM here. Maybe because my profile is new? Could you write me?

I updated your user level. New users are limited, but the forum software generally upgrades someone to basic user really quickly (after some posts, responses, reading). But sometimes we intervene

@Louisvdw , did you see this:

@TheTerribleTriplet , have you seen Andy’s latest solution?

That new board in Aus?

yep

I thought about it, and it was very intriguing… but then Louis driver runs on the Cerbo, no extra hardware. Me like KISS.

I’d rather spend money with Louis truth be told. Proudly SA and all that, with SA LS experiences.

If I have to spend monies I would rather invest in a NEEEEEEEY and be done with balancing … one day when I need it. Balancing is the bliksim to watch out for.

And then way later, if that is not enough anymore, then only activate Louis’s driver again.

Today, “bareback” I run these batts. A number of us do that, these 280AH Grade A Batch Matched cells.

And IF I’m forced to get a bigger AH bank … I will go for the future 650ah (or whatever their size then). 19 of them, again - 4 “warranty cells”.

Must keep it TTT Proof see. Fewer connections/parts = a TTT Proof system.

But that is just me. KISS.

Yes we’re busy working with the devs to make the new UI usable for 3rd party apps.

Nirvana will be, on the new UI for your driver:

  1. Click here to install it the first time.
  2. Click there to disable it, and over there to remove it completely.
  3. With all the settings one must set, on the screen.

… if I may add some ideas … aimed at those non-Linux people out there.

That would be nice. But first goal is just to get the same features working as before.
The new UI include new tech stack that we need to make work.

I just heard, from the new maintainer, that there are just over 9200 installations using this driver now. That is way more than I ever imagined.

(Also, using the velib_python from systemcalc was a bit cheeky and caused a small problem recently that almost gave me a heart attack… naughty naughty!).

I need to find some time to get back into that codebase.
