We passed the winter solstice at 4:42 this morning.
Yippee, and onwards we march towards summer !!!
Winter did not treat me too badly after having moved the panels to their new location up high where there is no shade.
Before, I had to be done with heavy loads by 13h30 and have the batteries full. This I could not always accomplish.
Now at winter solstice this cut off time moved to 16h15. Very very happy.
Interesting re your cutoff time.
If I recall you’re in the highveld so the sun can be depended on to shine…
Here in the Deep South we can only trust that the weather forecast is accurate
So if I see that we are in for cloudy weather I switch over to the grid to keep my batteries charged and wait it out…
Yes I am in Pretoria.
I also watch weather reports religiously and plan for predicted inclement days, but shade is always a given and you know what you have to work with.
Remove shade from the equation and you have a whole new system.
08h20 in the morning.
Dishwasher merrily doing its thing. A year ago I could only attempt this after 10h30 in the morning.
The Cape of Storms is living up to it’s reputation.
I saw the weather forecast yesterday and got my batts charged and switched over to the grid. I’m now waiting for the next development…
