I couldn’t wait especially as it is plug and play.

So I’m back in business!

Seeing as I don’t know what went wrong with the first ones, I think for the time being I will only engage them when I am on solar power.

I have this gut feeling (probably totally wrong here) that I lost the previous 2 due to something going wrong with alternator charging - even though it is via a dc2dc.

So when I travel, I will be with a fully charged aux battery, and when at destination deploy the solar panels and see how it goes.

Come to think of it, this will entail installing switches for them which is already giving me a headache.

From the image Plonkster posted, in which wire would you add a switch to kill the screen?

Damn, that’s exactly how I had it set up, if I’d know I would have sent the switches as well. I had them set up with a momentary push button switch wired between incoming power and the meter, that way the display is always off and only lights up for a few seconds when you press the momentary switch.

The incoming +ve and 3-pin +ve combine on the one side of the switch and the 2-pin +ve connects to the other terminal of the switch.

Ok so I see you used the red wires from both the 2 pin and 3 pin socket.

But I see the red wire from the 3 pin socket gets joined with a white wire before it goes to the switch.

What is the white wires connected to?

Ja, sorry, that white wire was all I had on hand when I was putting this together, it is just the incoming power to each meter. Have a look at the diagram on this page Volt and Amp Meter with Shunt - 100 AMP. In the diagram where the 3 +ve wires terminate on the battery I just had the single white cable. This then combines with 3-pin red on the one switch terminal with the 2-pin red, which powers the meter, on the other switch terminal. So the meter only gets power when the switch is pressed. Hope this makes sense. PM me if unclear.
