Victron Users Needed

Hiiii guys, I’m working in a research institute that’s conducting a study on energy products used in off-grid and mobile living scenarios. We’re especially interested in hearing directly from Victron users to understand your real experiences—what works well, what challenges you’ve faced, and how the system fits into your lifestyle.

We’re setting up offline interviews in Western and Northern Europe between May 19–31 ,each lasting 1–2 hours, and participants will receive a €50 Amazon e-gift card as a thank-you.

Would you be open to having a chat? If you’re interested and available, just DM me or comment below. I’d really appreciate your insights!

Offline interviews, meaning the participants must be there in person?

Yea, if it’s not convenient for you, I will contact my team to see whether online is OK

The users here have various inverter products, not just Victron.

I’d like to understand whether this interview is more biased towards the actual product used, or renewable energy as a whole?

Most of us are Africa based with the odd exception here and there.

Maybe if we have a little more info to make an informed decision because 1-2 hours for an interview seems a little excessive and not worth my time without knowing what exactly this is about.

No offence.

Probably 95% of our users are based in Southern Africa. A return ticket to Schiphol is about EUR 1100, and that’s without the Visa application fee

The main purpose of our questions is to learn more about your experience with Victron’s existing products. Specifically, we’d like to understand what problem you were trying to solve when you decided to purchase Victron, how you first learned about the brand, how you researched and selected the product, and what your overall experience has been like using it.

Please give us more details of the research/organisation/etc. Uses of the research outputs, etc

Hi Nico
Thanks for your interest. I’ve checked with my colleague, and she mentioned that she will be in South Africa in early May. Here’s her availability:

April 28 (Mon): 11 AM – 4 PM (less preferable)
May 3 (Sat): from 2:30 PM onwards
May 4 (Sun):available the whole day
May 5 (Mon):available until around 5 PM

Would any of these times work for you?
Also, could you please share your contact information (like your email) so we can coordinate more easily?

Thanks so much, and looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for your question! Could you let us know a bit more about your specific concerns regarding the research or organization, so we can address them properly?
Also, no worries if an in-person meeting isn’t convenient—we’re very happy to arrange an online interview instead, whatever works best for you

I’ll be frank - I am not going to share my info and meet with an organisation before they can give me a solid overview of themselves, and the goals of the research.

Research ethics is important and privacy and confidentiality concerns are real.

I strongly suggest forum members do not meet (in person/online) until you are 100% comfortable with the “who, what, why” questions.

Thanks for this, but “South Africa” is a big place. I’m in Johannesburg, where will your colleague be on those dates? I can only really make the weekend dates because I have to work. So say she’s in Pretoria on the Sunday, I’d have at least a 1 hour drive. If she’s in Durban it’s 6 hours each way minimum. If she’s in Cape Town then just forget it (unless you’re paying my plane fare).

And then I still don’t know who is interviewing and to what end.

Why ‘face to face’? What about written experiences?

Hi Bobster,

I hope you’re doing well!

I wanted to follow up regarding the interview. My colleague will be available on the following dates:

Saturday, May 3rd from 2:30 PM onwards
Sunday, May 4th, available the whole day

She will be staying in Johannesburg and won’t be far, so arranging a meeting should be quite convenient.

This research is part of a campus project conducted in collaboration with a professor from INSEAD, focusing on solar energy and off-grid systems. All findings are strictly for internal academic purposes and will not be published or shared publicly.

Would you be able to let us know which time works best for you? Also, could you please share your email address or preferred contact information to help us finalize the arrangements?

Thanks again for your time and support—we’re really looking forward to learning from your experiences!

I agree, something here is not right. If they are not willing to share who they are, and answer a few more questions, I would personally not waste my time meeting with them.

This doesn’t fit with the initial request to interview Victron users only. I don’t have Victron, I do have solar energy.

This does not compute!

If I didn’t know any better, I would say this seems like an AI that infiltrated the forum. It feels like talking to a bot.
