It seems that your issue is more with your internet connection that your browser. I am also thinking that it could be your router setup or something silimar. might not be a hack like TTT (who knows I hope your router password is not still admin admin )

It could be a misconfiguration, but you will need to get your ISP of IT nerd to come and look at your home network if you can’t fix this yourself.

Ok, this may not be related, but maybe who knows.

My old Mikrotik router was hacked twice.

The hacker was a nice guy, he drew my attention to the router by diverting all and every browser in the house to alternative sites. The speed of the webpages on any and all browsers was beyond atrociously slow on Fibre.

When I eventually looked at the Microtik, there was a firewall rule where he added comments like:
“update the firmware, I used XYZ to access the router”,
“change your password” and
“if you like the help, here is my bitcoin account”.

2nd time it started again, I replaced the Mikrotik. Not fit for purpose.

But I had to smile at the cheekiness.

Good news is though that all of the above problems are resolved for me with Firefox. No troubles there, at all, not yet. Just have all my bookmarks from last 6 months on Chrome, hence the inquiry.

Update (for interest’s sake)…

I only use Firefox as browser for the VRM now, works fine.
Chrome and Safari have not worked out.
