Pylontech US2000 original batteries bricked

I have x2 of the original US2000 batteries. Both have a power light and nothing else. They were bricked after the wrong firmware was used. I have a console lead and battery view but they no longer communicate after the failed firmware update. I have read there is a tool, referred to as a bootloader, that can re-flash the BMS to get them working again. Does anyone have this tool, please? Also any idea what the latest firmware for this battery is and where to get it? Information and support on Pylontech products are difficult to find. A user called Pylontech-Jeff has been mentioned with this elusive software … is he still active on here?

Welcome Turnip.

@JacoDeJongh would probably come past and assist if possible.

Hi Sir. I can assist. Can you maybe contact me on my cell or private message. I would like to log unto laptop with AnyDesk or teamviewer, I can transfer the files and help you through the process.

Good morning. Thank you so much for reaching out. I will call you directly.

You Sir, are an absolute genius! Thank you for resurrecting my batteries. A true ECO live saver.

Hi JacoDeJong,
I have 8 Pylontech batteries 2 us5000 and 6 us2000 with different firmware versions. Two of the batteries seem to overcharge to 105/6% and the bms hi voltage alarm id118 on the Sofar solar me3000sp on a daily basis. I have batteryview software which seems to show very low discharge rate on these two. All other batteries seem to function normally. Would a firmware update cure this and if so where can I get it from?
Thank you in advance

Best regards

Chris

Hi Chris. Can you please send a picture of how your batteries are connected. How many battery packs do you use. I have seen this before and it wasnt a firmware issue. If my suspicion is wrong, we might as well try updating.

Hi Jacob,
I have update all of the us2000 batteries to V3.4 as the they had different versions on them.
When updating the battery view program asked for capacity so I put 50ah but when finished it stated it fail to write data

Hi Jacob there 6 us2000s and 2 us5000s one is master the other is no 8 in the second stack.
The rj45s are crossed going up on the second stack.
The AC inverter is a Sofar Solar ME3000sp.
This throws up bms hi volts when on overnight charge cycle. Alarm ID118 which isn’t covered in the Sofar manual? The symptom is battery 5 and 7 only seem discharge above 0.6amp.
All other batteries behave normally.

the connections seems fine. Cant see what I suspected.

Can you maybe connect Battery view to Battery 5 and 7 when the battery is full and then again at the end of discharge. Battery view will show you if discharge is allowed or blocked. If discharge is blocked in those two bricks, you should have a very low cell in both. The low cell will cause the BMS to disable discharge of the brick all together. This can then again result in the BMS allowing charge because it wants the Low cell to rise, causing the already higher cells to reach a voltage high enough to trigger your alarm. Screenshots of what you see, might clear things up for us.

Please post some screenshots here.

When connecting to the master you can select United and 8 Units.

It will look something like this. Close the bottom tab and drag the line in the middle down slightly to show all the data.

If you connect to 5 or 7 separately and they have an issue, you will see a little block with OV or UV in the Alarm/Protection Information block to the right.

In the picture above you can see how balanced your cells are at 100% or at lower SOC’s.
This is my stack at roughly 50% at the moment.

Hi Jacob,
The battery view cell info for battery 5 and 7 look to be normal.
These were taken yesterday evening.

Best regards

Chris

… same here, mixed with a later US2000 and a US3000 - never had any updates I know of and all just running smoothly with an 8kW Sunsynk; Id rather not scratch where it aint itching and keep paying insurance premiums and leaving the spiders in control of insect population ala TTT - that offer of the Teamviewer consult with Jaco is not to be ignored! Good luck @turnip26 :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Jaco,
The us2000s seem to recovered and are charging. I have found issue with battery no8 us5000 the field SOC is blank. It is on firmware 1.3 the other us5000 is on V1.9 and this displays SOC ok. Do you have copy of V1.9 I could have please.

Best regards

Chris

Great, your system baffled me a bit. I have to see if I still have 1.9. I think I only have 2.2 if that will work.

Edit: Confirmed 2.2 if you want to flash both.

Edit2: You can whatsapp me on my number in my profile. The firmware is so small I can send it back via whatsapp.

Hi Jaco,
Yes can you send them to me, I’ve tried adding you to WhatsApp
But I cannot do invite, perhaps I need t
Your country code?
Best regards and thanks for your help

Chris.

Just an addition battery no2 us2000 triggered a cell overvault and cell zero alarm. This also showed up on the Sofar solar me3000sp as alarm id118.
I’ve re flashed it to ver2.4 and change capacity to 43Ah instead of 50 to see if this stops the overvolt alarm…

Man did I screw this one up. Just bricked Chris’s US5000. So use to UP5000 in SA that I forced the wrong firmware in there. The portal that I have access to for firmware does not even have the US5000 firmware. Have to wait till the morning for the support center people to find the correct firmware to help Chris again.

Sorry Chris, my bad.

Edit: Found V1.3 and restored the battery to its former glory. I knew I was not going to be able to sleep with this in the back of my head. Second forum member from the UK that I had the honor to help this week.

Jaco, recovered my us5000 successfully and was of great help.
First class service.

I have always wondered by we don’t see the US here and only the UP. US overall better specifications… Cost maybe?

I’ve recently had a US2000C develop an issue in one of its cells and got a credit, since the US2000C is no longer available.

I now have to choose between a US3000C or a UP5000. R/kWh the UP5000 is the better deal, but I am wondering whether it’s inferior quality, hence the 5 year warranty.

Does anyone have experience with the failure rates of the UP5000 vs the US3000C?

Hi Jaco, I am having issues with 1 of my Pylontech US2000 batteries.
The capacity reported is either 48Ah or 25Ah dependent on which firmware is loaded.
I updated the firmware as the battery was reporting cell over volt alarm.
It would seem to be cell 13 goes above 3.6v during charge cycles. The battery also discharges faster than all of the US2000s during the evening.
Do you have any firmware earlier than 2.4? I’ve searched the internet and cannot find any files.
My US5000 is still working fine so thanks again for that.
These cell alarms seemed to have started after fitting a new US5000 in November.

Best regards

Chris
