NEW: Victron Cluster / Groups

A very interesting development coming.

Clusters are very cool.

Microgrids so a small holding could have multiple systems and they will share power… No communication’s challenges.

From sounds of it you could mix 24v and 48v systems (etc)…

Very cool indeed.

I assume a system will disconnect itself if it cannot pick up the load on the AC-in side to still protect the loads on its AC-out. My understanding is that theoretically any Victron system would be able to slot into a system like this.

Early days still…

@plonkster would it need to be purely off-grid (in its final form)? If you have Quattros with two AC-ins, one inputs can be set up to be the microgrid-In, and the other the “national grid”-In. The Quattro might be able to still disconnect from the national-grid while still staying connected to the micro-grid?

Or otherwise achieving the same with an external relay to a normal Multiplus?

I have no idea. My involvement with this project was to add the modbus integration. As far as I know this is not meant to be grid connected.

The forum post above is worth a follow. Off grid yes…

Well here’s to hoping it makes it into the grid tied market as well! Would be cool to be able to run independent inverters without the need to parallel them.

Technically you can already do that. You just have multiple systems tied to the same grid connection. Write your own little control loop to divide the work over them, so they feed in proportional and cover your loads, and bob’s your uncle.
