it must have been somewhere in the previous century that i once bought oranges in a shop in sa and was startled by the fact that they came from israel - imagine my surprise when the local picknpray tried to sell me honey from china 
I recall reading at some point that China doesn’t have very strict regs when it comes to have constitutes honey. As such, “honey” from China may well contain syrup etc. to make it cheaper.
I read about it years ago already, so this has been coming along for a while.
We only buy honey from local producers to support the local community.
