A friend of mine asked me to help him make his still smart.
Anyone here done this before… and what all you have/use/sense.

Tell him to watch videos on Home Assistant, Dont build it for him or you will always be the tech support for life.
If home automation was for him, he would have done it already and wouldnt be asking for help.
A couple years back when I wanted to brew my own beer, a friend brought me a brewing thermometer gadget from America. I still have it somewhere, still sealed in the packaging, I can’t even remember the brand. It’s basically a smart thermostat like a Geyserwise with different timers for the different stages of brewing.
Of course these days if I had to do it, I’d DIY it.
he does things for me that fall in his skill set, i help him where it’s in mine…
