This client is getting power from Eskom, this will make it worth his while to make use of the feedback options they offer. There is no selling or buying happening, just an offset transaction with possible banking if he needs it. With the banking function the money earned can be offset to his account in the future.
Feeding back to an muni does not make sense as the moment, selling at 78c per kw in Tshwane and buying back at whatever your unit bracket for the month.
I have already prepared the proposal to apply for feeding back on this site. The cost of roughly 100k is so much less than the cost of a 60/48.
Very nice install!
Maybe a too technical question but if you setup the assistant to connect to the grid , will ESS still operate or are they running independently from each other.
This is another install for an existing client in pretoria. They just completed building a house for his son and opted for a three phase system for this house.
24 x 550W panels on the roof, 3 x 5kva Multi 11’s and a Freedom won 30-24.
So the last 5 weeks we have been on the road in Natal waiting for the builders to finish in Capetown so that we can move over to the cape. Got delayed for 2 weeks already with the heavy rains up here. Could not complete roof work or open tiles. rain was really bad.
First we inherited a site that no one could stabilize. The original installer disappeared and two other companies’ were called to sort it out, but failed. We made a few changes and added 6 batteries and a few other components. System rock solid for the last 5 weeks.
Then we helped a client that paid R160k for the following install. We replaced with Blue and a more reliable battery bank. Spaces at the bottom is for fridges and shelves with tool boxes.
The third job was to install a nice big system for a client in Balito. 54 x 595w Bifacial panels on the roof and Phase one on the inside wall. Still 10 batteries outstanding on planned phase 2.
Number 4 for this trip, Rip out the bar install way up in this post. Combined the panels from both installs and adding a fronius and 17 more panels to the system. Also added another 15kva quattro and still have to add another 7 x 15kwh batteries. Changed the angle of some of the panels as well as restrung a few strings to maximize MPPT’s and Fronius.
We are starting with another Phase 1 install today. 45kva Inverters, only 24 x 550 watt panels and will have to fly back in two weeks time to connect the batteries that will only arrive then. The client is still building this house and roofs for the rest of the panels will only be completed in a few months time.
Me and one of my guys arrived back in Gauteng just after 11 Thursday night and my team at 11 Friday night. Quickly attended to a few important support issues on Friday and yesterday morning I collected spares for our new install in Noordheuwel Krugersdorp. We completed the Noordheuwel Install at 3 today…
2 x 5kva Multiplus 11, 2 x 5kwh Batteries and 12 x 550 Watt panels on the Roof.
As usual, space was left for adding more batteries, another Mppt and Inverter should the clients needs change in the future.
I am going to do something that I normally would not do. I am going to talk about price. THis client got a quote from a big name in our Victron approved installers circle. He was quoted R237k for 12 panels on the roof, 1 x 5kva and a 5kwh battery. We did this job for just under R160k. Double the battery capacity and double the inverter power.
Tomorrow’s job will give me much joy, but I wont say to much now.
First before I post today’s job I would like to clear up something first. I am not knocking the brand. They have a space in the market and they are definitely not the worst alternatives around. My joy in replacing one of these comes from the punches thrown at end-users over the last two years. Approved installer losing their approved status leaving their installs without warranty. Politics and changes in the supply chain and repair centers, and the extended 10 year warranty that is not honored anymore due to simple politics. We replaced a Sunsynk with our prefered brand and used as much of the layout and existing switchgear as possible to ensure we save the client on labour and consumables.
I need permission to post the before picture but here is the after.
