Thanks Jaco, just for the sake of those on this forum - wanted to reply and let you know FreedomWon did try upgrading firmware and the issue remained. They eventually shipped a giant external capacitor bank as a way of trying to ‘help’ the eTower support the loads it should be able to support without any external assistance. In short - the eTower is not a 1C battery as a result of the BMS not supporting 1C discharge rates. Recommend people avoid this battery if they intend to design a system which would require the battery to discharge at close to 1C.

Maybe this is new news to some. But this changes the Pylontech to better match n 5kw inverter.

I find it a bit strange that the UP5000 is still being sold in SA when it seems the rest of the world has moved on to the US5000. Perhaps we’re the dumping ground for old stock? The UP5000 isn’t even listed on Pylontech’s website anymore.
