For Sale or swop: Solis-Mini-2000-4G

Aaa, you see, then it will take much longer … developers don’t act fast unless they have “some skin in the game”.

Or TTT can install it, wire up a modbus connection, and I can just do it remotely too. Saves one shipping leg.

Truth be told, I took a gander at the modbus doc. Some registers aren’t there (no per-phase power or energy registers). Not a trainsmash, it can be derived from others, or estimated from what is there (there is per-phase current registers). One can probably assume the power and energy is split equally over all phases, which should be close enough. Still, my original plan (just drop a driver into the existing modbus-client code) is not going to work, it will take more work.

At least it has a decent identifier registers (35000, and/or 3000).

Sooo… this is a bit more than a weekend project, and since it is not on the official radar… it’s going to end up in the store room and not get done.

TTT, you rather take it.

I wonder what is actually in the store room…

Shipping leg is not a matter.

Wiring up a Modbus connection … is when stuff goes wrong.
Connecting it up so that it starts … is where stuff goes wrong.

VS

You have 1000 times more knowledge than I can do both the above with your eyes closed.

… yes, I’m bullying you.

NIKE it! Check it out at your own pace. You know you want to.

A lot of blue boxes. That old joke…

… if that is true, I should be very popular with the ladies. But it is mostly 12V stuff, easier to test with that

Come @plonkster I need to get my 250/100 back from my father with his 12v 3kw phoenix setup, it’s a waste for that size mppt. It will be super nice If you can test and report back that the Solis can work with the victron stuff.

OK, I’ll send a DM. Wasn’t planning on doing this but my curiousity got the better of me and it seems I talked TTT out of it

@Gman , for single phase it will be easy. It is a direct map (the global register is also the L1 register). For 3-phase, that’s where it gets interesting.

If you say so. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Me, I’m hedging my bets … read “playing a long game here”.

No, Vredenburg, 120km outside Cape Town.

But that’s what I said …

  julle Kaapse manne ken nie julle Dal van julle Burg nie.

This was naelskraap, I had this advertised on “the other forum” and have had 2 okes contact me this morning. It almost went that way…

I’ll pay for the shipping to get this weekend project on the radar! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the offer!! But no need, I’m happy to contribute to the development that many of us have been trying to get off the ground for months

And out of the woods come more interested parties who want the same … :+1:

Will also help Plonk to see that his efforts won’t be wasted … and it won’t mean a loss in sales for Victron either, cause this is a specialist hobby, read, for a select few enthusiasts.

Plonksters efforts MAY just bring Solis on the same level as ABB/Fronius one day, it being the “poor man’s” grid-tied option. One can only dream.

… long play see.

EDIT: And @Rautenk said it is legal if the MP is the grid reference for the Solis.

Haha. Yes, I’ve often made that mistake too. At least I know the difference. I have been to Vredenburg many times, usually passing through to Paternoster or Velddrif. Vredendal? Well, I was ALMOST there one day when there was a chemical spill on the N7 between Klawer and Vanrijnsdorp.

LOL… I have two more places I can plonk down solar panels. One of them is far enough away that the Solis might actually get used! (That is to say… don’t count on getting it “back”! :stuck_out_tongue: ).

I pretty much figured that :yum:

So much more beneficial for ALL here that you have it.

Titbit Vredendal
Been there a time or three during my “I wanna be a truck driver” Bucket List item.

Even got stuck going on a railway crossing to get to an open space other side (I got lost) to do a U-Turn in the open space on the other side, like this - because I wanted to:

Thank snot the truck had air suspension. Could lift the rear double wheels just enough that the trailer’s “pote” was like mm’s off the slope to be able to reverse.

My dood geskik … but jinne, it was fun.

I did pull that move a few weeks later with one of the large retailer’s trucks.

Amazing how you can wiggle a truck if you have seen the moves experts pull.

Getting lost in a truck … O my … simply terrible if you don’t know what’s ahead, and cannot reverse or turn around.
