And I though I was not allowed to touch the boksie when the LOS light was brightly red…
ok guys, all fixed now, have fibre with 50mbps up and down BUT
now i sit with a space hogging fibre box and TWO routers, courtesy of zoom fibre and webafrica - see img
the fibre signal goes from the box to router 1 on the left - there it is ‘translated’ into ‘copperese’ from where the second router picks up the signal where it is ‘demodulated’ and sent via wifi all over the place.
apart from the xtra hardware in my home it took me approx 20 hours of getting help from my isp - a useless organisation - and zoom, just a tad from useless - as well as driving around in search of zoom offices - and i was misled into believing they are in the communication business…
as we are all misled to believe that politicians are actually in the governing business
Look at the model specs for the Zyxel. If it does what you need from the old router then just move everything over to the fibre router and put the old one in storage.
splendid idea, i’ll keep you posted!
EDIT
naaaa… too much trouble… whether i store the zyxel somewhere or not, it takes up the same space, i’ll just fix them nice and tidy and on me and the wife’s departure or whatever, the guys can come and collect the garbage
