Eskom ... is there ANY chance? In CPT there is

From personal experience, for fact.

Bloody lots of spoons in the pot…

This inequality is very much a world issue, not just in SA.
This got me thinking about economic policy of which I know very little except to believe in market driven economics: That well run competitive businesses will thrive and reward those who work there. (But this excludes government employment and our current administration has allowed that sector to become way out line)
The US is perceived as having an economy that allows small start ups to become rich and famous but its a more unequal society than the EU.
Thomas Piketty is someone who knows something about this topic: See https://archive.li/rJKyZ
 Here’s the original link: What, if anything, should be done about economic inequality?

Worldwide we have 2 situations and they are based on culture/politics. We have areas where all the people are poor, with only the political elite with freedom/power/well off living. Then we have areas where there are rich, middle class and poor people. The political elite are rich in comparison normally but there is more freedom and choice.

Freedom also entails choice, and that includes being lazy, being poor, being rich and being a philistine. We all make choices, and have to live by them choices and the consequences. I and an idiot, you on the other hand is clever or intelligent or whatever, that is just life. You don’t owe me anything, ever, same goes everywhere.

PS Edit: It is just like an opinion, I am, as you are, entitled to one. It may be wrong, but anyhoo…

On the CPT topic, does anyone know what happened to the Steenbras backup yesterday? Turbine problems I believe…

It begins… we were warned at some stage, but direct loadshedding with no Muni control is the next step in the “process”

I’m also known for saying that sometimes, incompetence is bad enough that it might as well be malice. I often use the analogy of Dolus eventualis, where you didn’t intend to kill someone, but you acted with such complete disregard for life that there really isn’t much difference.

I’m pretty sure that every politician once thought, when he was young, that he was going to change the world and he wasn’t going to be corrupt. Evil is never used to procure more evil. Evil is always a means to an end, where the end may not in itself be a bad thing (money isn’t in itself a bad thing). But repeatedly appointing the wrong people to important jobs… that is a kind of incompetence that, in my opinion, might as well be malicious. Not learning from your mistakes – and as a country continuing to vote for it – is bad enough.

In the case of Eksdom and the CancER, assume malice my friend. It’s a mafia and they have control over violence. Intimidation by SAPS (office of the deputy) is a shining example, and there are very many more. Also SAPS, go try and open a case, rest assured, if you can get that done, forget about them doing anything. I have in my personal capacity over the last 3 years, experienced this many a time. There are currently about 10 cases and we could only get 4 opened. Of the 4 opened ones, nada. SAPS knows who the perpetrators are, and have physical addresses.

In the murder case, well you can see my daughters TicToc posts on that. Here there is a lot of incompetence for sure, and that is turning into malice. Go see OUTA and Ian Cameron as further examples. Look at out stats… then tell me it’s just incompetence…

And a bit of “Stretchy” PR never hurt…

No, I won’t do that. Of course it isn’t “just” one thing. That’s kind-of my entire argument

I agree with that … if you don’t wanna listen, then we will switch you off. Finish en klaar.

Aaaaand that is 4 400MW they do not have to supply, so effectively the public relieved the rest of SA from Level 11… Think of that…

Yup, I was about to say the same thing. We’re not in stage 11 yet during the evening peak, when solar is basically gone completely especially in winter. So no… things aren’t quite that dire yet.

Daytime LS savings, and partly rooftops running from batteries in the evenings, don’t forget about that. most of our solar is not just grid tied.

SonningeGroetnis

That is a valid point. SA may not have as much solar as other countries, but I’d wager it has the highest proportion of batteries for the little domestic solar that it has.

But if you go to statista and dig a big deeper and look at the installed capacity on July 2022 (Not number of operational units) we rocket closer to the top, I think its just due to how we build stations (not many small ones) rather much bigger centrally located (close to the coal source) ones.

That is only the first part of the equation, just because its installed doesn’t mean its actually used 24/7 obviously in places like China it will be the case, but in places like Germany they almost use coal plants like peaking plants (They really really don’t want to burn it, unless they have too)

During the last few weeks of weather, my batts are “pretty useless” without Eksom, hence the Eskom to be the supplier of last resort … problem.

Like today … and yesterday … the batts need Eskom, we use more Eskom, and we are on 7h30 LS per day.

So now I wonder, if SA is going to be taxed severely on exports due to Eskom emissions… how does that affect China, USA, Japan ito exports? O, wait, “what’s good for the goose …” comes to mind. So nevermind.
