Don't under estimate start up current

Had problems with starting some pieces of equipment on my old Victron 3kVA.

Recently upgraded to 10kVA unit.

Took pics of table saw startup. (has jury rigged soft start for the 3kVA unit)

I have variable speed control machine as well (like a CVT) and at higher speed ‘setting’ it draws 4500W at startup…

Solved many issues by going big.

And this is single phase I presume?
There’s a lot going for 3 phase but mostly for bigger systems.

Single phase…being totally off grid doing three phase solar somewhat prohibitive

Motors, or certain types, can draw a lot to get going.

I bought a new freezer last year. I measured the old and the new with a kill-a-watt.

Old one used .577 kWh over 8 hours, but it’s momentary high (start up) was 1365 W.

New one (inverter drive) used .192 kWh over 8 hours, with a momentary high of 107 W.
