At this point it seems to be fairly clear that the MPPTs in total is limited to 80A. We need to understand why. The batteries’ BMS isn’t the issue. An 80% temp derating seems like a normal “first step” for derating. Need to be able to understand:
Is it temp?
If it is temp, why is it temp if you say that it isn’t particularly hot?
Not sure if a loose wire somewhere on the output could cause the heat… Surely that would result in a complete overheating…
I thought the same in that it could be a weird bug - But the battery doesn’t seem to care in its own parameters. The 52.4V is also a Victron override voltage, not the BMS, which is 53.2V. I’m wondering whether the RS’ own settings are maybe not set up correctly, but I thought those would be ignored while managed by the GX.
Just to be clear… I don’t want other people to read this thread and think this is an easy place to come for support. Please follow official channels. But after you posted a screenshot with the site name, it took only seconds to see the issue… and we do like to be helpful.
I assume Amber Energy did the install for you, they should have been the first call
Thanks, they were the first call. I have been trying to explain this issue to them for several months without it being resolved (and I do realise they are busy with lots of installs). I came to this forum as I could see something was not right and I was getting no response form the installer. Nothing personal against them at all but I have a lot of capital on the roof and it’s was not returning max value. It is now, thanks for the assistance. I really appreciate it.
No worries, that’s more for other people who may read this than for you. For myself, I have to always think what my boss would say… he would say what I just did
The installers are indeed crazy busy at the moment.
Will do. just. Just a bit overcast at the moment. Will wait until around 12 when both the north and east arrays have direct overhead exposure then i’ll pull a snapshot of the instantaneous and then later this evening to check the daily yeild.
Lol… I was like “oh look, remote support is on, let’s have a look”, and then like this guy I said, dang it, there’s your problem lady! And it was literally a “hit enter, type 100”, hit enter again". Done.
8:45 am and the system is aready pushing out 4.5kW! Awesomess! Never been able to hit that level since it was installed in April. North panels are not yet near full output so should easily see 6kW around midday. thanks again Izak.
In fact, for y’all’s enjoyment, watch that video to the end… when he goes a little over 7PM at work, on a Friday. I love Eric and his Mrs. O so much, such a wholesome dynamic, and you learn how to fix cars along the way. Also, I learned heaps about CAN-bus comms from this guy… him and DiagnoseDan.
