The effect that solar power will have on the world differs from country to country. Here’s an article on African countries which SA is also different from.
It’s a prickly bush. Governments should provide electricity to people, but where will they get the tom? I already that the eventual outcome in SA, will be a two-tier system. One tier will be Eskom. The 2nd will cost more but be cleaner and more reliable and private.
One ironic scenario described in that report does happen here: villages close to power stations but having no grid connection.
But they will probably have a solar panel for lights and small loads..
That’s the program I read about. The residents can sign for a small PV system that runs a couple of lights & charges a phone.
There’s been a similar project near Howick.
