Has anyone activated this? I see this option is now available to keep your account details safe.
But if it means that I have to supply a pin or code every time I access VRM which happens probably 30-40 times a day, then I’m definitely not interested.
Can one possibly exclude regularly used devices from this functionality?
You only need the code when you log in. I assume that you don’t log in from scratch 40 times a day? You remain logged in?
I’ve had 2-factor on for well over a year now and it’s not a problem. If I do have to log in again, I use the microsoft authenticator app for that. Another little trick to know, is that VRM will accept the current and the previous authenticator code, so you have a bit more time than the 30 seconds the app shows. That is useful on a mobile device where you have to switch between the apps.
To make sure I understand.
I open the VRM app on my phone, and I see all info I need. But I ticked the box that says remember me or stay signed in. This I do 30-40 times a day.
Will 2FA change this?
Or will this just be required when I go to the remote console to make adjustments?
Why on earth do you need to check in 30-40 times a day? Thats like a full time job.
I may have exaggerated a bit. But it is at least 15-20 times… I am hands on with it. I need to know what my system does all the time. Especially with inclement weather.
Plus I love looking at the data displayed.
Ok, you do you. What i like about my system is that I don’t have to think about it.
Then you should be fine.
To be clear, you have to provide that extra code every time you type the password. If “stay signed in” works, that is, you are not prompted for the password every time, then 2FA will not interfere with that.
It only stops working on my wife and son’s phones because they do not access vrm. They get logged out because they don’t use it.
I will give it a bash and see if it will frustrate me.
Where will one disable 2FA if I need to? Will it be in the remote console settings somewhere?
I love my Victron system more than you love yours!
I think and dream about it all day long. Proper love affair and the magic is still there after more than 4 years!
