Eskom ... is there ANY chance? In CPT there is

Sorry peeps, had a not so quiet chuckle here…

Where have you ever seen Commies, Socialists and Anarchists agree on anything at all, ever? Let alone if you Have the DA (no longer share what they are) a very leftist ideology party with a smattering of democracy and or the FF, UDM et al or any of the other smaller parties thrown in.

Prediction: fogetaboutit!

SienerGroetnis

But, can we really say the DA isn’t doing a good job where they are in power? Sure, they have had their share of corruption (some people got arrested in the last year), and it is likely that their performance is due in a large part to “sticking it to the ruling party”, in other words it might change when they gain power and therefore complacency… but is it really impossible to imagine that having the DA in power will not improve things?

I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m not a DA fanboy. They just happen to be the lesser evil. Also, I have a feeling that if the EFF gets into government, it will basically trigger immediate steps for Cape Independence.

If the DA can get into power, as you say, the lesser of the evils, there is hope.

Sadly though, they will be fought on every single level and motion by every party thinking along the lines of what Sarel so eloquently explained.

Then IF the DA still gets into power, a real majority vote and carries on to make the hardcore decisions, then one has the Unions to contend with next. Riots here we come. So, key control, like the Police, would be crucial … but they are “weak” and untrained today, so there is that to fix first.

Start over … all politicians please step into the sea and start swimming, don’t look back. Capiche!
Then:
Rule 1: Only <45yo are eligible to start in politics.
Rule 2: No hint of any criminality ever with actual education qualifications where required.
Rule 3: 50% male and 50% female, from the ground up.
… we start there.

Jacida Arden, there is a good example. For us, this is kinda known broken, politics that is. Not that is working soooo much better elsewhere. Just like with Eskom, why don’t politicians resign. Why do they desperately want (need) to stay in power? Easy answer there Sherlock.

There are skeletons, sometimes literally skeletons in them cupboards. So rather die than get exposed, or resign. So we have that. The Intelligence services are, and so the military and police and justices and most other state organs, very factional and ideological, and that means defending the status quo. Not to think of all the criminality in there, and the corrupt nature. history be your guide here.

Do not think for one moment, any of those threatened of being exposed will not act, they have everything to loose and all to gain by removing and crushing everything in their way. So think of that, also think what their reaction is to any ideas of Independence.

Past behaviour is a very good prediction of future behaviour. Life means little… Few survive, poisoning of DeRuyter, when starting to expose what is happening, look at political murders…

What is the solution, I really do not know.

Brace yerselves lads and ladesses, Incoming schedule upgrades, soon near you. The next few months will be, errr a bit more bumpy than usual. Before winter, or sooner rather than later, I predict, even higher levels.

Like currently we are marketed stage 6, technically we are way into stage 7 (7000MW) already.

Infrastructure collapse in SA, a failed state?

I like in the above video, how SANRAL is considered a success :innocent: :no_mouth:

So consider we have ~750 000km of roads, SANRAL only looks after ~22 000km with a budget of about R 22 Billion. Extrapolated that will require a budget of about 33X.

A few snippets:
With 83.6% of the national road network under South African National RoadsAgency Limited’s (Sanral’s) jurisdiction exceeding its 20-year design life, there is increased risk of rapid deterioration during the wet season, owing to the old, cracked surfaces being susceptible to moisture ingress.

The same is plaguing the USA, bridges, dams, etc there, are also “past their prime” and also not “as well” maintained as they should have done, due to lack of funds.

A common problem it seems when the generations after the OEM generation don’t spend money on infrastructure maintenance. As my FIL, a retired engineer told me once, they build and design roads for that generation, a ±20-year life. The next generation must pay their own way.

LS Level 6 … yeah again today 10 hours off, “sold to me” with 3 x Level 6 and 1 x Level 5, last 4h level slipping over to tomorrow. .

Why slip Level 5 in, 3rd day in a row now?
O wait, it “markets” better. Perception management, others are shouting “Level 7!”.

Hence that puzzle video I sent yesterday. I deliberately didn’t say what the trick was, but it comes down to the smarties in the corners being counted twice and allocated to both adjacent sides. When the corner blocks open up, you can move 4 extra smarties in and the onlooker becomes puzzled that somehow it adds up to the same number.

Nope, you just counted the corners twice…

Load Shedding has that same feeling about it. That 4 hour slot we have between midnight and 4AM (for example, had one of those last night)… I had to prepare for that one yesterday, but it was strictly part of today’s schedule. That makes it feel even worse than it is.

I, for one, welcome our overlord’s decision to run stage 5 during the day. I have to fit in rather a lot of large loads during the day (at least until I upgrade this system), and an extra 2 hours is kinda nice. Perhaps what you need is an HA automation that implements stage-6 for you by shedding that extra two hours

Batts now have ample time to recharge, so much so, dang man, that I’m even hauling out an extension lead to switch on the dishwasher!

Even tested the induction plate and air fryer can work together during LS.

It is like: O no!!! I’m wasting so much power!!!
(a 21st-century problem!)

Joke is, that is on a 5kva system.

Part of my capacity is AC-coupled on the input side. I lose that every time the power goes out, and a 4-hour slot does not go unnoticed. Obviously this will change some time in the future.

The other two loads that messes me about is the pool pump and the tumble dryer.

We have this stupid situation where an interrupted tumble dryer causes everything to be creased… sometimes so badly that rewashing and drying again is the only solution. So the dryer must not be interrupted… otherwise Murphy will ensure that a bad day at work will coincide with wrinkled clothes.

The pool pump, on the other hand, has to run around noon (preferably) so that max heat can be harvested from the panels on the roof.

If I had a 5kVA, these two loads would happily run in the middle of the day. But I have a 3kVA. It can handle the tumble dryer… just barely… but it overheats and shuts off before the load is done.

Had to do a belt replacement on the Tumble Dryer the other day. My goodness, the entire thing comes apart, the drum comes out completely… I was amazed that when I was done I didn’t have any spare screws left!

Thinking about what De Ruyter came out with, all our speculations over the last years, what he came out with, on top of all of that, man, that took some serious guts.

As a matter of fact, it ticks me off endlessly that the political parties, DA specifically, nary a word.

If De Ruyter knew all of this, so did they.

It “feels like” we have the politicians, all of them in their own bubbles on the one side, with De Ruyter, a patriot, actually standing with the rest of SA.

I say, De Ruyter for President.

Run as an independent, Andre, beholden only to SA.

You have my vote.

EDIT: Reading the reports now coming out of what De Ruyter said, thinking back on how Annika did the interview, the leading questions, and adding more titbits here and there, "feels like’ a carefully orchestrated interview.

Good!

I also must say, with De Ruyter now moving overseas, no need to stay till 28 Feb apparently, I would not want to be close to the fallout that is hopefully coming.

Him being quite prominent internationally, the attempted murder going international, when the right people start asking him the right questions, o my. ANC, you have a serious problem coming.

I can only hope, cause politically, this ain’t going to be resolved internally. So maybe international intervention is required, to solve the corruption in SA on the levels it is done at, the people involved, the syndicates, and the money flying out of SA.

Maybe Andre did that interview to kickstart the real change … I can only hope … for billions can be invested in SA with renewables and batteries.

I was wondering if that might not be a wise decision.

Here is the thing. The media statement didn’t actually say that they let him go because he dared to speak about it. I mean, the timing is certainly very very suspect, and I will definitely not put it past them, but that is, in a word, speculation.

But let’s assume that it is true. They didn’t like what he said (I mean, he basically pointed a finger at someone in cabinet!), and this is a kind of retaliation. Well, here is the thing. The moment he leaves, that frees him up to speak even more, does it not? And once he leaves the country, that adds even more freedom to the equation.

He needs to find Phakamani Hadebe, and they need to pen a book together.

Look we can only really effect change from within, but everything has it’s limits, so does every man. I am not advocating for anyone to leave, we can however, understand his position.

Correct, but there’s the timeing:

  • Interview on Tuesday 21 Feb
  • Special board meeting on Wednesday 22 Feb resulting in “mutual agreement to curtail his notice period to 28 February 2023.” with the added “will not be required to serve the balance of his notice period but that he will be released from his position with immediate effect.”

It just sounds like the meeting was called following the interview. But we don’t know. The meeting may have been called before the interview and he decided to add more to the interview than planned etc.
