Eskom ... is there ANY chance? In CPT there is

So in 2024, the election year, things get interesting …

We are acutely aware of LS being “baaack” … as if it was ever gone.

I burst out laughing at this … simply because Mantashe was pictured … and it is election year.

I KNOW SA can fix this shiite, but under the ANC “leadership” … naaaa, not a chance.

Merry New Year to All. :innocent:

If Mantashe isn’t in charge, then why is it his blueprint that’s being put forward?

Rama has to do something as it appears Mantashe has been a fly in the ointment, this election year.

… and because they have nothing else to present.

Karpower, interesting …

From two sources:

And just to confirm, the 2024 outlook has not changed it seems … still RED.

And about Andre:

Feels like that, in bold, is what CoCT has working towards since forever?

EDIT: Interesting to see that Andre is “surfacing” again …

If these ZeroCC guys succeed… the surplus energy produced by their charging stations may well become a significant contributor to such a distributed generation model.

Think it could be a give/take seeing that charging will be done 24/7.

Well done Rob for finding this!

With that piece of lekka news, seems like “South Africans do whilst the Gov does not”.

The ANC must GO!

And in other news:

Yup, although that is not new. My father always told me the same thing about Italy, although I am not clued up enough about their history. Apparently though, they also had an inept government for some time, and the citizens simply worked around the government to get things done.

Of course that is what makes the NHI such a big issue. Until now, a large portion of the country simply worked around the poor medical services provided by government. What do you do when suddenly you are legally prohibited from bypassing government?

We simply find a workaround …

That is IF the Courts/Constitutional Court does not stop the Gov dead in their tracks when the court cases start to run …

The Courts are “set free” from the old Zuma stranglehold. And the judges are “sorted out” one after the other too, it seems.

There are workarounds, but they will cost money.

Anyone can afford medical care as long as they have enough money. You can fly to Switzerland and get care there. If it is elective, you could fly to Windhoek and get it done there (very very capable doctors and good hospitals there). Some of my family members who live in the UK already do all their dentistry in South Africa. They fly over for a holiday, do any work required on teeth, fly back.

The trouble is that affording the higher NHI payment on top of a medical aid payment will be out of reach for most. Medical aids will, as a matter of affordability, drop their cover and act more as a top-up fund.

I think there will be similarities with the affordable health care act of the US (aka Obamacare). They told people that they could keep their existing health insurance, but in the end many people ended up paying more for less.

I do however realise there is a big issue with healthcare in the country, and that it is deeply unfair that some people get healthcare and others don’t. For me, I think the principle has always been: If I can afford it, I should be able to get a root canal. If I cannot afford it, the state should at least pull the infected tooth at their own cost. There should always be some basic level of healthcare from the state. Instead, what we are scared of, is that in time none of us will be able to get a tooth pulled because you can’t even get in with a dentist…

I agree.

Also know, from friends and family, that there are State Hospitals that are more jacked, and more experienced doctors, care, than some private care ones.

And we also hear of the many institutions that have failed horrendously due to mismanagement, and greed.

And then the ones who have, are failing, due to the lack of funds.

EXACTLY the same as with all and any state institutions. Incl Eskom.

I’ll put this here, as it links to Eskom … again:

De Ruyter blowing the whistle, the “setting free” of SA’s criminal investigators to go and investigate, courts free to do courtly things … seems the chickens are coming home roosting like there is no tomorrow. Big thank you to Daily Maverick Investigators too!

When these “houses of cards” start toppling … will take a wee bit longer to have the actual names of the people involved, their proper prosecution complicated and costly, lengthy too.

But SARS could get some additional “income” seeing as they can “act” so much faster and easier if ones “numbers” don’t tie up. Just “point SARS in a direction”.

I think this is appropriate here …

Maybe. SAP may say that their profits are reduced.

Back in 2007 there was a scandal in motor racing when the McLaren team got caught with complete drawings for the Ferrari car.

The FIA fined McLaren 100 million dollars.

McLaren claimed the fine as a tax deduction, saying it was incurred as a result of them pursuing their core business.

The tax man did not agree with McLaren and disallowed that particular deduction.

Glad that they survived that setback. It was good to see them giving the front runners a bit of a wakeup…

The perfect grift me thinks. get bribed, fine the bribing company a huge amount, get that paid to SA and steal the fine monies…
