48v telecom rectifiers

Has anyone here used the 48v telecom rectifiers for charging 48vnom LFP banks ?

Are these rectifiers available used in SA ? See plenty of them on the used market in the USA - but the shipping…..

Would be nice if we could find a source for these rectifiers locally….

What power/current are you looking for?

I worked on a project where they used those for charging in a hybrid genset trailer instead of the Quattros. I cannot remember exactly why, there was a reason.

48vnom - 50 to 70 amps output - depends on the model used.

They are ;

1/ low cost (relative to what a brand name 48v LFP charger costs)

2/ they are very very tough so can take a beating and come back for more.

3/ wide input ac range and wide input Freq range - so can accept just about ANY power in for clean DC out.

4/ can sync with just about any dirty old little genset you may try to connect one too.

5/ Have CAN bus onboard and it is possible to control them with an MCU.

6/ They can be stacked in serial to get a higher charging voltage

7/ they can be stacked in parallel to get more charge current.

I cant get them from OS if I have too, but hoping to find a source here in SA for them.

Seems like its not a very done thing here in SA

Please post a link for these. I’m not sure I know what you’re referring to..

Gives you the idea. There plenty on ebay - just not in RSA that I have seen - so will have to import a number of these.

Is this any good?: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/806561825321806/

no - different thing.

The FB listing is a straight power supply

What I am looking for are Telecom rectifiers.

If this is your application a regular 48V power supply won’t help you. It will trip on overcurrent when charging discharged batts…

OK thanks for the feed back.

Those R4850s have current limiting and voltage setting, they are ideal for this type of use; I suspect the “Chargeverter” is just two of these with a controller for setting voltage/current.

Sadly, I have not found a local source, but if you find one let me know. I guess you could try to contact the distributors for Huawei equipment locally, but I would bet that getting them from ebay would be cheaper by a big margin.

Am I correct in assuming this is a battery charger? (Never seen one myself..)

It is a programmable powersupply.

Yes these rectifiers are PERFECT for charging LFP batteries.

They can be found on ebay etc for around $120-$150 USD each - BUT - overseas - not here in the land of the boerewors. So importing them adds significant cost.

I have been unable to locate these in RSA so far.

You are correct - the chargeverter is merely 2 of these rectifiers back to back.

These golf cart chargers are fairly common here on local sites:

You would need to do your homework to ensure you get what you want..
